Qualifications/Experience:
Associate of Arts Degree in Occupational Therapy Assistant, Occupational Therapy Assistant Certification required.
Successful background check required. Prefer experience working with children.

Patience, flexibility, love for children, confidentiality, team work, self starter, take direction easily, excellent communication skills, behavior management skills, assist in the classroom and in special education classroom.

Specific Tasks:
The Certified Occupational Therapist Assistant (COTA) is responsible for implementing intervention and therapy regarding students' fine and gross motor skills and functional abilities (e.g. perceptual-motor, hand functions, motor coordination, sensory development, muscle strength, etc.) under the direction of the Occupational Therapist. As a COTA, your duties are performed in support of an occupational therapist providing treatment for patients. A school COTA works with students who need therapy services, and your responsibilities focus on helping children be able to participate in educational activities and classes. As a COTA, you help collect information and assess the needs of students before working with an occupational therapist to plan and administer a treatment program. In addition to working with students who have physical barriers, you often serve students who need behavior development or mental health services. See the job description for additional information.
